Lead sorption from aqueous solutions by kaolinite: laboratory experiments

نویسندگان

چکیده

The lead has adverse effects in contamination the aquatic environment, for this reason, a laboratory simulation was conducted using kaolinite collected from Ga’ara Formation at western Iraq to be considered as natural sorbent material that can addressed Pb2+ aqueous environments. Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy clarifying very fine grains pure phase with little quantity of quartz number active sites adsorption. sorption been carefully tested by several designed experiments. Five solutions different concentrations (25, 50, 75, 100 125 ppm) were under values pH (1.3-9). best recorded 9, an equilibrium reaction time 40 m solid-liquid ration 1.25 gm:50 ml. is endothermic two main mechanisms identified, rapid ion exchange which gets beginning during first 10 m, exchange, slow later due form ionic complexes

Adsorption of copper, lead and cadmium from aqueous solutions by activated carbon prepared from saffron leaves

Background: Industrial development has caused the release of various pollutants including heavy metals into the environment. These toxic compounds are extremely dangerous to living beings and the environment due to their non-biodegradability, severe toxicity, carcinogenicity, the ability to be accumulated in nature and the ability to contaminate groundwater and surface water. The aim of the pre...

Pseudo-second-order model for lead ion sorption from aqueous solutions onto palm kernel fiber.

The sorption of lead ion onto palm kernel fiber was studied by performing batch kinetic sorption experiments. The batch sorption model, based on a pseudo-second-order mechanism, was applied to predict the rate constant of sorption, the equilibrium capacity and the initial sorption rate with the effects of the initial solution pH and fiber dose. Equilibrium concentrations were evaluated with the...

Removal of Lead from Aqueous Solutions by Polyacrylic Acid-Bentonite Composite: Batch and Column Studies

Shortage of water resources and deterioration of water quality have urged the need to develop new technologies for the removal of contaminants from water. Heavy metals produced by municipal and industrial activities are among the most toxic contaminants present in the natural and waste waters. Different methods have been developed for the elimination of heavy metals from water resources and ind...

Sorption of Trace Constituents from Aqueous Solutions onto Secondary Minerals

-Well-characterized American Petroleum Institute clay standards, source clays from The Clay Minerals Society, and other secondary minerals were used to determine the effects of U concentration, temperature, and solution composition on U-sorption properties. Uranium concentrations ranged from about 1.00 x 10 -4 M to 4.00 x 10 7 M, temperatures from 5 ~ to 65~ and solution compositions containing...

Sorption of Heavy Metal Ions from Aqueous Solutions: A Review

Sorption techniques are widely used to remove heavy metal ions from large volumes of aqueous solutions. Herein, the natural and some artificial materials, such as clay minerals, biosorbents, carbon-nanomaterials, metal oxides, are reviewed as adsorbents in the removal of different heavy metal ions, such as Ni(II), Cu(II), Pb(II), Cd(II), Cs(I), Eu(III), Th(IV), Cr(VI) from large volumes of aque...
